austen-ize me

+ + +

poetry emboldens the soul to accept mystery

that thought is attributed to john keats in the biographical movie, bright star.

i like these period movies. there is so much conversation in them, and the stormy speeches are always delivered by people with red cheeks who, when they yell, yell in full sentences and not obscenities. i guess one doesn't like to think of one's heroes and anscestors as having common weaknesses. the movie is beautiful--all English gardens, bumblebees and heavy white light. a little precious overall and, {sorry}, annoying in parts.

mystery is a comfort though, isn't it?

Ah, period movies. Such a contrast to way The Real Housewives of New York City and their sisters in the other reality shows fight! Period. (I apologize for sullying your blog with the mention of such.)
